You can find culinary and regional delicacies in the guesthouses and restaurants in and around Goldegg. Also the mountain huts and other snack-stops pamper their guests with regional delicacies and local specialties. A lot of effort is made, up to and including the award winning restaurants, to use and process organic and local farm produce. But of course our guests can choose – what counts in Goldegg is the special combination. We break the bridge down between down-to-earth, traditional food and modern, international food. In a sports region like Goldegg it is very important to offer a healthy and balanced diet. This is the optimal balance to training plans and sporting goals.

’’Mmm, that smells great, just as it used to be in grandmother’s kitchen. On opening the hut door, we are hit by familiar and beloved smells. We are also very hungry. We were on the slopes the whole morning. There was a hustle and bustle in the mountain restaurant and the fine foods that were coming out of the kitchen were bringing a smile to everyones face. So what shall we order? Kasnocken (Austrian macaroni cheese), roast pork or a cold snack?
Help yourself to healthy and local products. The Seehof shop at Hofmark 44 exclusively sells homemade products from regional producers. For the manager, Sepp Schellhorn, the Seehof shop is about preserving traditional values and long standing structures. “Just like it was in the good old days“ can be professed to its very roots when shopping. Do you appreciate a “responsible and green lifestyle?“ Then you are in very good hands at the Seehof shop. Regional products, manufactured and processed locally are the backbone of the Seehof shop. Whoever is looking for an extra special culinary experience should combine a shopping trip with a visit to the sun terrace of the Hecht restaurant. Great views meet culinary delights.
In the mountain huts, alongside the well known Salzburger Almenwegs (Salzburg mountain hut road) you can try the regional and traditional dishes in person. At the Kathi Alm everything is homemade. The bacon, the cheese, the sausages and the bread are all homemade. Here in the mountain hut or further down towards the valley on the farm. Balthasar and Katharina Mulitzer open their mountain hut every year around Christmas time. In March the mountain hut closes its doors again. After a hearty meal and traditional food, Balthasar serves his specialty – he makes rowanberry schnaps. When he talks enthusiastically about this he gives away one or two secrets: when you rub the rowanberries on the back of your hand it has to smell like marzipan. If not, they are not rowanberries.
What is your opinion about a good, traditional, regional meal on your holiday? When you are going to the mountains, surely you would also like to try the best products that the region has to offer.
